On Monday, May 19, 2014, Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) welcomed a group of college students for its robust summer internship program. Throughout this 10 to 12 week program, IDT interns will gain meaningful, hands-on computer engineering experience and receive valuable training in the application of automated software testing technology.

The Recruiting Process

The students were selected following a highly competitive recruiting process that included campus visits, resume submission and interviews with multiple engineers. Most of them are studying computer science, engineering or math. This year’s group hails from eleven different universities, including: Virginia Tech, George Mason, William and Mary, UMass, Duke, Stanford and Wake Forest.

Intern Training

On their first day, the interns participated in a thorough orientation and training program organized by Katherine Weller. By day two, most of them will be digging into specific IDT programs and products. All interns are assigned mentors who will guide them in learning and applying IDT’s automated testing technology.

“We are pleased to welcome such a talented group of interns this summer. I am eager to see what each of them learns and also contributes while here. I would not be at all surprised if some of them eventually became full time employees,” said Weller.
