IDT Supports Test Result Analysis Using ATRT
May 24, 2018—Earlier this month, the Navy completed the first phase of its Surface-to-Surface Missile Module (SSMM) developmental testing for the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) program with a live-fire test exercise. During the event, which took place off the coast of Virginia on May 11, Longbow Hellfire missiles were fired from the USS Milwaukee (LCS 5) at fast inshore attack craft (FIAC) targets.
According to a US Navy press release (May 16, 2018), Milwaukee fired four AGM-114L Longbow Hellfire missiles that successfully struck FIAC targets in a simulated complex warfighting environment. The SSMM leverages the Army’s Longbow Hellfire missile in a vertical launch capability. This marks the completion of the first phase of the SSMM Developmental Testing (DT) for the LCS Mission Modules (MM) program and was the first integrated firing of the SSMM from an LCS.
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) is working closely with the Navy and Dahlgren LCS Surface Warfare Mission Package (SUW MP) analysts to evaluate test results from both the non-fire and live-fire missile exercises using Automated Test and ReTest (ATRT). The LCS SUW MP analysis community uses ATRT to automate the evaluation of test objectives to confirm that mission package application software (MPAS) and the SSMM are performing as expected. IDT has been providing ATRT and engineering support to LCS SUW MP since 2013.
