IDT Expands Arlington Headquarters With $19M Investment

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) is expanding its Arlington, Virginia headquarters with a $19 million investment that will create 210 new jobs and support the company’s continued growth delivering mission-critical capability for the Department of Defense.

The expansion, announced today by the Commonwealth of Virginia and Governor Abigail Spanberger, will significantly increase IDT’s operational footprint in Ballston and strengthen the company’s ability to support defense customers developing and fielding increasingly complex software-driven systems.

IDT serves as a rapid capability integrator for some of the Department of Defense’s most demanding mission environments. The company helps programs integrate, test, validate, and deliver operational capability faster through automation, digital engineering, advanced integration technologies, and scalable software delivery approaches.

“The mission we support is complex and Virginia has been central to how we execute that work, with deep technical talent and close proximity to the customers we support every day,” said IDT Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bernie Gauf. “We appreciate the Commonwealth and the Virginia Economic Development Partnership for their support as we expand. This investment allows us to grow our team and continue delivering trusted capability faster while investing in the region.”

Governor Spanberger and local Virginia leaders highlighted the strategic importance of the investment and the strength of the region’s technical workforce.

“Innovative Defense Technologies’ expansion in Virginia is a reflection of our position as a leader in advanced technology — and a shared commitment to strengthening our national security,” said Governor Abigail Spanberger.

IDT’s expanded headquarters will support continued hiring across engineering, software development, systems integration, program management, cybersecurity, and operational mission support functions.

The project was supported by the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and Arlington County, including a grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund and workforce support through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.
