Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) works closely with several universities to find qualified and motivated students for its Internship and Co-operative education (Co-op) programs. IDT interns and co-ops have the opportunity to work alongside professionals in the Software Engineering and Systems Engineering fields. They gain valuable, hands-on experience helping IDT build automated testing and analysis solutions for its customers in the Department of Defense (DOD).

Software Engineers
Candidates for Software Engineer positions will participate in the design and development of an innovative system that enables the automated testing of highly complex systems. These positions require knowledge of and some experience in developing applications in C++ and Java in a Linux environment; experience in Perl, Python, XML, and Eclipse development environment is a plus.
Systems Engineers
Candidates for Systems Engineer positions will participate in the design and development of an innovative system that enables the automated testing of highly complex systems. These positions require knowledge of and some experience in developing applications in C++ and Java in Windows and Linux environments; experience in Matlab, UML design and Virtualization technologies is a plus.
Interns
Candidates for intern positions should be enrolled in a B.S. or Postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering and hold a GPA of 3.2 or above. Intern positions are generally, but not exclusively, provided during the summer months.
Co-ops
Candidates for co-op positions should be enrolled in a B.S. or postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering and hold a GPA of 3.2 or above. Co-op positions are generally semester-on/semester-off positions and coordinated through the university co-operative education office.


IDT is headquartered in Arlington, VA with additional offices in CA, MA, and NJ. Positions may be available in all four IDT locations: Arlington, VA; Fall River, MA; Mount Laurel, NJ; and San Diego, CA.
Interested candidates are encouraged to visit our current openings site in the early fall to submit an application for summer positions. All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain a U.S. Security Clearance. Compensation will be commensurate with expertise and experience.
