Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), in collaboration with a Director Submarine Programs (DSP), announced approval to enter the Afloat Software Authorization Playbook (ASAP) process for an IL6-hosted Software Factory. This milestone positions the Software Factory within the Navy’s framework for implementing continuous Authority to Operate (cATO), enabling secure, continuous delivery of software in classified Navy environments.
Modernizing mission systems increasingly depends on the ability to deliver software at speed. In classified environments, integration, security, and authorization requirements introduce additional complexity that can affect delivery timelines. With approval to enter the ASAP process for an IL6-hosted Software Factory, IDT enables programs to navigate these requirements more efficiently and deliver software at operational speed.
“Delivering software in classified environments has historically been one of the more complex challenges in modernization,” said Scott Bindas, Vice President of the Undersea Warfare Business Area at IDT. “With this milestone, we’re helping programs navigate those constraints and deliver mission capability at the speed today’s operational environment demands.”
Developed jointly with DSP, the IL6 Software Factory provides a fully hosted DevSecOps environment that allows programs to focus on software development and mission outcomes while reducing the burden of infrastructure management, patching, and compliance provisioning. The platform supports both new and legacy systems through tailored continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines designed for Navy tactical software.
The Software Factory incorporates continuous monitoring and compliance automation to maintain readiness within the Navy’s authorization framework. Integrated visibility, scanning, and reporting across the DevSecOps lifecycle support sustained cyber resilience while reducing the operational burden on program teams.
By enabling continuous software delivery within an IL6 environment, the Software Factory establishes a scalable foundation for integrating, testing, and deploying mission capability across classified naval systems.
