On Monday, October 28, 2019, representatives from Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) attended the AADL User Day held in Arlington, VA. The event was a one day forum on the current state of AADL standard and associated tools. It included briefing sessions on current projects and vendor tool exhibits.
IDT employees participated in both the briefing sessions and the exhibits. Shawn Kline presented a brief on IDT’s powerful Automated Test and ReTest (ATRT) technology and specifically its adaptation to leverage AADL for the automated test and assessment of U.S. Army aviation systems.
The Architecture Analysis and Design Language, or AADL, is an SAE International standard for describing both the software architecture and the execution platform architectures of performance-critical, embedded, real-time systems. It is relevant to software for mission- and safety-critical systems, such as avionics systems in aircraft, which are growing larger and more expensive. AADL addresses common problems in the development of these and other safety-critical systems.
AADL User Day was supported by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) of Carnegie Mellon University and held at the AUSA General Gordon R. Sullivan Conference and Event Center in Arlington, VA. IDT is currently partnering with SEI on an AADL project for the Army. Learn more about IDT’s capabilities here.
