Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) Welcomes Summer Interns

Last month, Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) launched its 2021 Summer Internship Program. This year, the company welcomes 14 interns who join existing co-ops to work with employees from IDT’s four offices. As in 2020, this year’s program is being conducted virtually due to lingering COVID-19 restrictions.

Program Components

IDT’s internship program, which has run uninterrupted since 2008, offers qualified students the opportunity to learn from experts and perform meaningful work that is making a difference. Throughout the summer, they actively participate in IDT’s mission to transform the speed at which the Department of Defense (DOD) delivers software-based capabilities.

Program components include exposure to cutting-edge technologies, valuable training, individual mentoring, and team building events. Over the course of 12 weeks at IDT, each intern has the opportunity to participate in a variety of Lunch and Learns where they hear more about what we do, our engineering processes, the school-to-work transition, and various career tracks.

Colleges and Universities Represented

IDT’s Summer Internship Program attracts highly qualified college students from a broad range of schools. This year’s group hails from Boston University, Brown University, Columbia University, Princeton University, Rowan University, Rutgers University, Stonehill College, University of California (UC Berkley), University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), University of Vermont (UVM), and University of Virginia (UVA).

Recruiting qualified students for the program began in early fall and the majority of the class was selected months in advance. Most interns are rising juniors and seniors studying Engineering, Computer Science, or similar fields.
